Composting on campus

Circles apartment residents should sign up for our composting program ASAP! Supplies are provided, and pick-ups are every Sunday! Email us to get more information! Composting captures carbon and stores it in our soils, removing it from out atmosphere... this helps with our fight against climate change!

Composting is a very old and effective technique – evidence shows that many cultures (around 12,000 years ago) used composting! You can compost: fruits, veggies, seeds, beans, egg shells, stale breads (anything organic). There are many different ways to compost – check out Cornell Cooperative Extension to see how to build your own.

The organic nutrients in compost helps improve soil health, increasing crop yields! Every year, about 108 billion pounds of food waste is produced in the US.
