Bio Statement
Maya Silveira Scuri is a sophomore Writing for Film, TV, and Emerging Media major with a minor in Education Studies. She moved to Ithaca from the South of Brazil last year in August. Since then, she has dedicated herself to joining many organizations and pursuing various campus employment opportunities. She has worked in different places, including The Campus Center Dining Hall as a server, the Whalen Center for Music as a member of the theatre crew, the Office of International Programs as an office assistant, and the Information Desk on Campus Center as a staff member. Over the summer, Maya stayed in Ithaca and worked at the Summer Housing Office. Regarding clubs, she’s been a writer for the Life & Culture section of The Ithacan, a writer for ICTV shows Looped In and After Hours, and recently joined the IC Stand-Up Comedy Club. Concerning community service, she’s volunteered at The Food Pantry, retirement home Kendal at Ithaca, AIDS Ride for Life, and South Hill Clean-Up. During Fall 2025, she took part in the Peer Leader Program to mentor freshmen and was honored to be awarded a place in the Oracle Honor Society.
