Bio Statement
Camielle Leckey is a first-year architectural studies major at Ithaca College. Prior to her first semester, Camielle Leckey participated in Ithaca College’s Office of Achievement Opportunity and Access’ summer program and became enrolled in CSTEP. Throughout the year, she continued to participate in CSTEP among other clubs. Camielle joined Sister to Sister and the Black student's union and has enjoyed making friends at club meetings throughout the year. As an IAP scholar, Camielle volunteered at the Campus center and encouraged students to register to vote. The IAP program also encouraged Camielle to attend student leadership workshops, where she learned how to better manage her time.
Beyond campus involvement, Camielle enjoyed the art aspect of her major by taking an Intro Drawing course. In this course Camielle’s completed many innovative assignments that challenged her to examine how light, shadow, texture and value shape her subject’s form. By building her skill, Camielle’s final project, a self-portrait, was chosen to be put in Ithaca College’s art gallery. Camielle is excited to continue her exploration of art and anthropology in the spring semester. In the future, Camielle hopes to study abroad and continue her exploration of architecture in a different context. Overall, Camielle hopes for her experience as an IAP scholar and Ithaca College student prepares her to become a licensed architect.
