Required Workshops

Below are the course numbers and descriptions for each of the required workshops that must be taken prior to graduation. Each workshop is zero credits, but must be signed up for in Homerconnect.

EDUC 19210 Child Abuse Identification and Prevention (NLA)

A two-hour workshop on child abuse identification and prevention. Offered at least once each semester. Pass-Fail only. (F-S)  Please note:  The Child Abuse Identification and Prevention workshop was updated in 2025 to include information on reducing implicit bias in decision making processes and provides improved and detailed guidelines to assist in recognizing signs of abuse or maltreatment.  Ithaca College started offering the updated workshop as of September 2025.  To verify that you have the latest version of the workshop, check in your TEACH account under "Workshops" where the latest version will be listed as “Child Abuse Identification (Second Update)." If you need the latest update, Ithaca College offers a 15 minute module you can take to fulfill the requirement.  Please contact teachered@ithaca.edu to obtain it.

EDUC 19230 School Violence Prevention (NLA)

A two-hour workshop on school violence prevention offering a thorough overview of the SAVE Act and your professional responsibilities as a teacher working in New York State public schools. Offered at least once a semester. Pass-fail only. (You must have at least junior standing to take this workshop)

EDUC 19240 Harassment, Bullying, and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention (NLA)

A six-hour workshop on harassment, bullying, cyberbullying, and discrimination prevention and intervention. Offered at least once per semester. Pass-Fail only. (You must have at least junior standing to take this workshop)

Documentation for the 3 required workshops in TEACH

While the "college recommendation" Ithaca College submits to TEACH after you graduate certifies that you have completed all 3 of these workshops, it is best to have them listed individually in your TEACH account.  If you check your account and any are missing, please use this form to provide the information we will need to send NYSED to get them listed for you.
