Ellory Steinback from the Aquaponics Research Team has been experimenting with growing flowers as a way to diversify the types of products that can be grown organically in an aquaponics system. (The flower production industry is notorious for using high concentrations of pesticides). Just in time for Valentine’s day, the flower experiment yielded enough flowers to share with the Ithaca College community. The Aquaponics Research Team delivered these flowers with their own versions of Valentine’s messages:
- I'm nitri-fixed on you
- Our love is like a closed loop system: endless
- You complete my nitrate cycle
