Joseph Cantatore is the Global Head of Tax and Real Estate Accounting at Taconic Capital Advisors LP, a leading multi-strategy global alternative investment manager. Since joining Taconic in 2013, Joseph has been responsible for overseeing and developing the firm’s global strategic tax planning and compliance objectives, as well as managing the global real estate accounting and reporting functions. He plays a key role as a primary contributor to Taconic’s real estate asset management team, ensuring strategic business plans for global real estate assets are successfully executed.
In addition to his leadership in tax and real estate, Joseph serves as a member of Taconic’s Business Infrastructure Group, advising on and overseeing critical aspects of the firm’s reporting, data structure, systems, and overall business administration. He also holds multiple board seats for Taconic’s investment subsidiaries in Luxembourg, where he leverages his expertise to oversee complex tax, operational, and investment strategies across several distressed credit and equities investment platforms.
Prior to his tenure at Taconic, Joseph was a Tax Manager in Ernst & Young's tax practice, advising large multinational alternative investment fund clients. Earlier in his career, he worked in the internal accounting department at Weiser LLP (today’s Forvis Mazars LLP).
Joseph is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of New York and a current member of the Managed Funds Association (MFA). He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Accounting (cum laude) and his Master’s in Taxation (with honors and distinction) from St. John’s University’s Peter J. Tobin College of Business. During his time at St. John’s, he was honored with the Bronze Award of Accounting.
Residing in Bergen County, New Jersey, Joseph lives with his wife, Erika, and their two children, Jason and Amelia. His daughter Amelia is a student at Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School, pursuing a degree in Advertising, Public Relations, and Marketing, with an expected graduation in May 2028. Outside of his professional commitments, Joseph enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his wife Erika and their family. Joseph is also an avid hockey fan and spends much of his time supporting Jason’s travel hockey endeavors.
