Kim Allen currently serves as strategic communications director at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield where she consults on the development and implementation of communications strategies that protect and enhance the image and reputation of the $6 billion nonprofit organization serving 4,500 members across New York state.

Prior to her role at Excellus, Allen served as CEO of Rochester-based marketing, communications, and public relations firm Dixon Schwabl + Company. Joining the firm in 2001, she worked for more than two decades serving clients in the financial services, education, and B2B sectors. In 2010 she assumed the role as managing partner of their public relations and communications group.

Named the 2023 Professional Woman of Distinction by the Professional Women of the Finger Lakes, Allen was also honored in 2018 by the Women’s Council of Rochester as an ATHENA Young Professional, which recognizes emerging women leaders who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession. In 2006, she was named by the Rochester Business Journal to its Forty Under 40 list of professionals who demonstrate leadership in the workplace and in the community.

A current chairman of the board of managers for Mercy Flight Central, Allen also serves as a board member for the American Heart Association in Rochester, N.Y., and serves in an advisory capacity for several other statewide organizations.

Allen earned her degree in television-radio from the Roy H. Park School of Communications in 1996. As an alumna, she has been involved with the college as an IC Career Network volunteer and served from 2015-17 on the Alumni Association Board of Director Ad Hoc Alumni Identity Committee. In December of 2022 she hosted an alumni gathering at the Dixon Schwabl offices as part of President La Jerne Terry Cornish’s Ithaca Together Inaugural Tour.
