Rising sophomore Sara Valerio is majoring in biology on the pre-veterinary track at the School of Humanities and Sciences. Additionally, she is pursuing her veterinary technician degree while obtaining her bachelor's at Ithaca College. While serving on the board, she aims to highlight the issues that impact both students and faculty, with the goal of fostering a more cohesive and inclusive environment. Valerio will work closely with institution-funded programs such as SAS, the Unity Center, and the LGBTQ+ Center to advocate for the continued support of marginalized students to ensure space is always made for inclusion and equity. She hopes to represent all the voices of those who want to see Ithaca College thrive as the vibrant and inclusive institution it can be.
Valerio is an active member of multiple student organizations, including Sister 2 Sister and Pagan Worship, where she participates in various activities to share her experience being a woman of color and her ideas as a Hellenic practitioner. Her cocurricular activities include participating in Kanda's animal behavior research as a student researcher and being a member of the CSTEP program on campus. Valerio, the daughter of parents who immigrated from the Dominican Republic, is a first-generation student who always looks towards a better future.
