In collaboration with the Ithaca College Center for LGBT Education, Outreach & Services and Planned Parenthood of the Southern Finger Lakes’ Out For Health: LGBT Health & Wellness Program, Cinemapolis will screen three documentaries on modern-day transgender life as a part of the inaugural Transuary Film Series.

The first film, “Man Made,” chronicles four transgender men as they compete the in only all-transgender bodybuilding competition in the world. The second film in the series, “Call her Ganda,” follows three women who are out for justice following the murder of a transgender woman. The final movie is “TransMilitary,” which highlights the lives of four individuals who put their military careers at risk by coming out.

Each screening will be followed by discussion, as well as information and additional local resources for transgender services and support in the community.

“We’re launching Transuary with the goal of increasing awareness, empathy, and action,” said Luca Maurer, program director for the Center for LGBT Education, Outreach & Services. “The challenges that face transgender people aren’t about being trans, they’re about living in a society that stigmatizes and discriminates against them.”
