Ithaca College Board of Trustees Recognizes Faculty Members with Promotions

Eleven faculty awarded promotion to associate professor or professor.

Congratulations to the 11 members of the faculty who were recognized with promotions by the Ithaca College Board of Trustees at its May meetings.

The following eight faculty members were promoted from associate professor to professor. Criteria for promotion to professor include evidence of a continued record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, evidence of having attained regional or national stature in the discipline or distinguished academic leadership at the college, and evidence of significant service to the college and profession.

Department of Philosophy and Religion
Rachel Wagner, who received her B.A. from Hendrix College, M.A. from Wake Forest University, and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.

Department of Sociology/Center for Student of Culture, Race and Ethnicity
Belisa González, who received her B.A. from Texas State University, M.A. from the University of New Mexico, and Ph.D. from Emory University.

Department of Theatre Arts
Wendy Dann, who received her B.A. from Ithaca College and M.F.A. from Syracuse University.

School of Music
Department of Music Theory, History and Composition
Jorge Villavicencio Grossman, who received his B.M. from Faculdade Santa Marcelina, Brazil; M.M. from Florida International University, and D.M.A. from Boston University.

Deborah Rifkin, who received her B.A. from SUNY Binghamton, M.M. from the University of Michigan, and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester-Eastman School of Music.

Cathy Crane, who received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and M.F.A. from San Francisco State University.

Nicholas Muellner, who received his B.A. from Yale University and M.F.A. from Temple University.

Department of Strategic Communication
Scott Hamula, who received his B.A. from SUNY College at Buffalo and M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

The following three faculty members were promoted from assistant to associate professor. Criteria for promotion to associate professor include a sustained record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, and evidence of service to the college and profession.

Dave Diggin, who received his B.S. and M.S. from Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom; and Ph.D. from the University of Limerick, Ireland.

Department of Physical Therapy
Megan Hotchkiss, who received her B.S., M.S., and D.P.T. from Ithaca College.

School of Music
Department of Performance Studies

Dawn Pierce, who received her B.M. from Ithaca College and M.M. from the University of North Carolina.
