Festive events scheduled for end of the year.

With the last day of classes for the year approaching, Ithaca College is encouraging its students to celebrate safely and to be good neighbors to their fellow South Hill residents.

In a message sent to students, Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life Stanley Bazile urged them to honor the hard work that got them to this point.

“While end-of-semester activities and celebrations are an integral part of the college experience, let me stress that we not let our focus stray from finishing out the semester on a successful note,” said Bazile. “I urge you to prioritize actions and behaviors that support your mental and physical well-being so that as a collective community we can put forth our very best effort to sprint through the finish line of academic coursework and final exams.”

Bazile highlighted the on-campus opportunities that students will have to celebrate safely:

IC KicksBack – Friday, May 2
Taking place from 3-7 p.m. on the Campus Center quad, this annual event is open to all students free of charge and includes barbeque favorites, sweet treats, carnival games, inflatables, and live music.

IC Community Brunch – Saturday, May 10
Ithaca College Dining Services will be hosting its annual IC Community Brunch to commemorate the finish of the academic calendar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Campus Center Dining Hall. This event is free and open to all IC students, regardless of whether they have an IC meal plan.

Blooms & Brews – Saturday, May 10
The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management and the Center for Health Promotion invite students to participate in a series of free events from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in IC Square. Tied to the upcoming Mother’s Day holiday, activities will include creating a personalized coffee mug, building a suncatcher, and crafting a Mother’s Day gift. Free chair massages and other self-care activities will also be available, along with refreshments.

Bazile emphasized the many resources designed to support the well-being of students through the stress and challenges the end of the semester can bring, including Stop & Breathe Week programming.

“I ask our students to please be respectful and responsible in interactions you may have with each other and our wider South Hill and greater Ithaca communities,” he noted. “This is especially true if you are planning to attend or host unsanctioned end-of-semester social gatherings occurring both on- and off-campus. Please abide by all laws and local noise ordinances and take responsibility in respecting the people and property in our shared Ithaca community. Please look out for one another and be willing to make positive interventions if encountering a situation where a friend or fellow student needs aid.”
