Magazine highlights the hands-on experiences and internship opportunities available to students.

Ithaca College was named to Variety’s 2022 list of the Top 30 Film Schools in North America.

In its write-up, Variety mentioned how the Roy H. Park School of Communications offers students state-of-the-art facilities and equipment to provide hands on experience shooting films and producing television shows.

In addition, Variety also highlighted the school’s Los Angeles internship program, which gives students the chance to intern with industry-leading companies while studying in the city for a semester, providing a unique opportunity to gain real-world, hands-on experience before they graduate.

Also, the write-up illustrates that ground is still being broken in Park, as a new production facility called The Cube is being developed.

“Being named a top film school is a testament to our faculty, our students, and our staff, especially those staff members maintaining our top-notch equipment.”

“This film and television space will have LED panels that will allow us to provide 'on location' settings without ever having to leave the studio,” said Jack Powers, interim dean of the Park School. “We're hoping to have panels on the floor, the ceiling, and the walls so that the visual effects can be as realistic as possible. This will put us at the cutting edge of film technology.”

But more than equipment and facilities, this award is about the people of Park.

“Being named a top film school is a testament to our faculty, our students, and our staff, especially those staff members maintaining our top-notch equipment,” Powers said. “It's an exciting time for the industry, and I am honored that Variety has recognized us as a top program.”
