Love is in the Air at School of Music Faculty Concert

ITHACA, NY — Members of the Ithaca College School of Music Faculty will present a musical exploration of the many aspects of love in all its wonder and wit on Monday, Feb. 15. Titled “The Truth About Love,” the recital is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Hockett Family Recital Hall, Whalen Center for Music.

The recital is inspired by W. H. Auden’s poem “O Tell Me the Truth About Love,” and will include works by Britten — who turned Auden’s text into a cabaret song for voice and piano — as well as Bolcom, Offenbach, Piazzolla, Poulenc, Wagner and others.

The performance is part of the After Dinner Mint faculty showcase series, in which each recital has the brevity and refreshing nature of an after dinner mint: It’s short (each concert lasts no more than an hour), sweet (world-class faculty collaborate in chamber music performances of unusual and traditional instrumentation alike) and, undoubtedly, the perfect smattering of indulgence at the end of your day (and beginning of your night).

This concert will be webcast live and available for on-demand viewing beginning the Thursday following the performance at www.ithaca.edu/music/live.
