Parley Hannan ’20 Sets Division III Record

Senior breaks the 5,000-meter indoor record by more than 16 seconds.

Parley Hannan ’20 made NCAA Division III history on Feb. 14 as she set a new Division III record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:05.36

Hannan, who was competing at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational against some of the top professional and collegiate 5,000-meter runners in the country, shattered the previous Division III record by more than 16 seconds.

Her time also broke the school record of 16:28.15, set by Taryn Cordani ’18 during her national title-winning run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in 2017.

Hannan joins Katherine Pitman ’17 in the all-time Division III record books. Pitman holds the division’s all-time mark in the pole vault with a height of 4.31 meters,
