Last year for my community service project, I worked with the Girls Varsity Basketball
team as a team manager. My role was to help practice run smoothly and by keeping
track of the score, shot clock, and time. I was also asked to help play on the scout team
during the latter half of the season. I also had the opportunity to sit in with the coaches
and they planned, practiced and learned the ins and outs of running a D3 basketball
program For the 2025/26 school year, I will be continuing as the team manager and
helping the women's team in their new season. This past summer, I started my graduate
level course work for my Physical Therapy degree. I stayed in Ithaca for the summer
and took part in the gross anatomy course that all PT students have to take ahead of
the fall of their senior year. It was an amazing class, and a truly profound and
meaningful experience that I will never forget.
To me, being an MLK scholar is about like minded individuals coming together and
creating a community in which they can learn and grow together.. From the moment you
meet your cohort members during orientation week freshman year to the day of
graduation, you gain a network/ group of friends that support you on your journey
through college.
