Ganesh

Abinaya Ganesh, as a vocal performance major, is heavily involved with the arts. Over the summer, she worked at the Misfit Artists Company, a non-profit theater company dedicated to making theater accessible for all. She has volunteered at Misfits since 2022, where she helps to run summer camps and create an encouraging environment for kids aged 7-17. In addition, she traveled to Vienna with VSMF, where she performed a contemporary opera with an orchestra. At Ithaca College, she is on the E-Board for Harmony Theater Collective, a theater company dedicated to uplifting POC voices, and for Tri-Alpha, an honor society for first-generation college students with high academic achievement. In addition, she is a member of NUVO acapella, a BIPOC-aligned acapella group who performs a showcase once a semester, along with various gigs and performances at Ithaca College and the Tompkins County community. She is continuing her commitment to interacting with the community through fundraisers with ACDA, an organization that supports future choral directors. Abinaya was recently inducted into the Oracle Honor Society, honoring her commitment to academic excellence within Ithaca College MTD.

I view my identity as an MLK Scholar as a commitment to community action and social justice, both in the broader sense of the Tompkins County community, and in my actions every day. It is these values that drew me to Ithaca College in the first place, and it is what keeps me here.
