Throughout the years Claire has been dedicated to service and education in her community. This past summer Claire ran a series of Women’s Empowerment Seminars for her community, and she was involved in MiniThon where she helped raise over $32,000 to fight pediatric cancer - breaking the record for the event at her school. She used her advocacy skills to fundraise as well as spreading the importance of MiniThon and to recruit new members. Throughout high school she was a positive force creating passion for school spirit and always volunteering to be involved. Outside of school she volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia on her breaks. She works to help clean, organize events, and be a helping hand for any and all needs.
On campus she is involved with spreading equality messages through organized events as well as promoting inclusivity in small ways, such as automatically sharing her pronouns. She believes in the importance of voice and through this is a large advocate for voting and sharing uncensored stories. She hopes to continue making an impact both big and small.
Being a MLK Scholar I have the resources to use my privilege to help others, and I am eternally grateful. With the support of my cohort and leaders I can hone my education and emotions into things like fighting censorship, voting rights, and creating inclusive and supportive spaces.
