Smeena Gill is a sophomore MLK Scholar. In her freshman year at Ithaca College, she walked on to the Ithaca College Women’s Rowing and Sculling team as a coxswain. She ended her season with a Liberty League title and came in 5th Place at the NCAA Championship in the women’s second varsity boat. She also became a manager of the Ithaca Men’s Basketball team, helping to the lead them to a Liberty League title as well. Her experience with the team has brought them social media engagement, as she runs their Instagram and TikTok pages. Smeena also works for the Ithaca School of Business. She runs the social media accounts, as well as giving tours to prospective students and families. Smeena is committed to community engagement and creating a welcoming environment to everyone within the Ithaca Community.
As an MLK Scholar, she has taken the lessons she has learned from the Civil Rights Tour and Class of ‘28 MLK Presentation to educate the people around her and continue to work toward an Ithaca College community she can be proud of.
