kamai

As a current freshman, Kamai has been adjusting very well to Ithaca! He has been enjoying the community that surrounds him and hopes only to improve it during his time here. One thing Kamai hopes to do is use his passion for theatre and implement it into his work with the youth. Kamai finds the connection between how theatre can transcend communication barriers to be fascinating. He believes creativity and performance are the best tools for engaging young minds and hopes to combine the imaginative aspects of theatre with the science of communication in the medical field.

On campus, Kamai has just started working in the Unity Center as a peer educator, assisting the office with daily tasks and helping out with many different events on campus hosted by the Unity Center. Kamai hopes to continue his work in the community through volunteering with local BIPOC youth and helping future incoming students adjust to campus life. Kamai has volunteered in his local hospitals, community theatre, and at the Special Olympics, all experiences that he brings with him in his work today. Kamai has also worked in the restaurant industry since the age of 14, which has given him a background in how to work in a fast-paced environment and in customer service. Kamai is only two months in, but it's very exciting to see where Ithaca takes him.
