My community service has centered on supporting Indigenous students from diverse backgrounds in their math and science education. This work became especially meaningful because I was able to build genuine relationships with both the students I supported and the program directors who coordinated these efforts. Most importantly, I learned how much I value helping people who are facing challenges. Seeing a student's face light up after solving a difficult problem or understanding a new concept was incredibly rewarding and reinforced my commitment to service.
My experience with the Marshall Learning Center further strengthened my passion for helping others. As I became more involved with the program, I expanded my work beyond fourth and fifth graders and began supporting children across all grade levels. I served as a counselor and participated in summer camp programs, where I helped provide meals, organized activities, and taught sports to students who were interested. These experiences showed me the positive impact that mentorship, encouragement, and support can have on young people.
Through this work, I discovered that serving others is something I want to continue throughout my life. I have also encouraged my friends to volunteer alongside me because I believe meaningful change often begins with one person taking the initiative. Even the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting difference in someone's day, and I am committed to continuing to create those moments of impact within my community.
