Sofia has been actively involved in athletics, community service, leadership, and the arts throughout her high school career, demonstrating a strong commitment to both her school and community. Through a wide range of experiences, she has developed a passion for service, creativity, and civic engagement.
As president of a community service club at her school, Sofia helped organize and participate in projects that directly benefited her community. These initiatives included highway cleanups, community blood drives, and holiday shopping programs that provided gifts for children from low-income families. Through these experiences, she learned that meaningful service does not always require grand gestures; even small contributions of time, energy, and compassion can make a significant difference in the lives of others.
Her commitment to community involvement extended beyond school organizations through a civic internship with the Town of Ulysses. This experience provided her with valuable insight into local government and strengthened her understanding of the relationship between public institutions and the communities they serve. Sofia also participated in a research project examining the root causes of food insecurity in Tompkins County. Working alongside others to explore solutions deepened her awareness of social issues and reinforced her desire to contribute to positive community change.
In addition to her service and leadership activities, art has played an important role in Sofia’s life. During her sophomore year of high school, she received the Congressional Art Award and has since earned several additional recognitions for her artistic achievements. Her passion for art has inspired her to explore opportunities to transform her creativity into a small business, combining her artistic talents with her entrepreneurial interests.
Together, these experiences have shaped Sofia’s commitment to leadership, creativity, service, and personal growth. As a student at Ithaca College, she plans to major in Advertising and Marketing Communications, where she hopes to combine her communication skills, artistic talents, and passion for community engagement. Through her work, she aspires to connect with diverse audiences, create meaningful impact, and contribute positively to the communities she serves.
