Integrative Performing Arts Studies (B.A.)

Integrative Performing Arts Studies is a flexible, interdisciplinary major for students who don't want to choose just one art form. Rather than specializing, students build fluency across theatre, music, and dance from the very start, gaining a broad foundation in history, theory, and performance before shaping the degree around their own interests.

Students in this program may not see themselves primarily as performers, but rather as thinkers, makers, and collaborators—individuals who want to study the performing arts as a lens for understanding human expression, identity, and society.

Coursework begins with foundational study in music, theatre, and dance, then opens into electives and hands-on practicum experiences. But what really sets the major apart is its required outside field: at least 15 credits of study beyond music, theatre, and dance, completed as a minor, a second major, or an approved suite of courses. This lets students pair performance training with another area of focus—for example, arts administration, education, communications, business, and more—preparing them for careers that draw on both artistic range and specialized expertise.
