Lucia Carucci Villano

Lucia Carucci Villano is a filmmaker and artist from New York, a double major (and double minor) student currently studying both Cinema Production and History, while minoring in Screenwriting and Acting. She has previously volunteered with The Village at Ithaca, a non-profit organization focused on dismantling systemic injustice and supporting local students. She had the wonderful opportunity to work on the production team and as the behind-the-scenes photographer for the Village-driven documentary piece Restoring Joy, which delves into issues students of color face, recording their stories. She performs concerts with fellow Park Scholars, Augustine Daudu and Autumn Valdes, at a local retirement community as well. She is the president of IC’s Youth Movement Against Alzheimer’s chapter, an organization that strives to educate young adults on brain health. YMAA aims to reduce the stigma around cognitive decline and foster a positive community while encouraging brain-healthy practices. This summer, she volunteered at her local library and continued post-production for the documentary Love You Back, the story of a man who was outed on his wife’s deathbed. The piece explores the complexity and fluidity of identity, as well as the idea that love and support are crucial and give life meaning. Lucia’s goal is to cultivate empathy in a meaningful way through art, bringing a sense of understanding and relatability to audiences. She aspires to use film, writing, music, and other creative practices to bring joy, love, and connection to others while representing stories with depth and complexity.
