The School of Humanities and Sciences is IC's home for the liberal arts. Join the largest cohort of explorers in a school that prioritizes student success, hands-on learning, close student/faculty collaboration, and advanced research opportunities. With nearly 200 faculty, 1200 students, 30+ majors, and 40+ minors, H&S will provide you with ample space for exploration, as well as the tools you’ll need to build a program of study with intention, in a community of care and support.

Exploratory students account for about 15 percent of IC’s incoming class, so you’ll have plenty of company. In H&S Pathways, you'll have support in helping you create a map for your college experiences—including extracurriculars, work, research, internships, and study abroad.
The H&S Pathways Journey to Success
Nearly one-third of all college students change their majors at least once. In Ithaca College’s distinctive Exploratory Program, you can take classes in a variety of fields, receiving guidance and hands-on-experience to find the major that’s right for you. Expert faculty and advisors work closely with you to develop a personal education plan so that you maximize opportunities to take courses in academic fields of interest to you while staying on track to graduate on time. You'll have:
- An experienced faculty advisor helps you identify and match your interests to potential majors and minors and build a semester-by-semester schedule that will challenge, motivate, and inspire you.

Our disciplines consist of the humanities, the creative arts, the social sciences, the natural sciences, mathematics, and computing.
