Department Awards Senior Dean Grimes with the Michael Clark Prize

By Department of English, February 12, 2026
This spring, Dean Grimes (English/Philosophy IC 2026) was awarded the Michael Clark prize for academic achievement and scholarly passion.

Senior Dean Grimes has been awarded the Michael Clark prize by the Literatures in English Department. Grimes is an English and Philosophy double major who works on the SigTD executive board. Additionally, she was a part of a small group of students who worked on advice and feedback for Katharine Kittredge’s Pooh Project—an upcoming scholarly edition of Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne.

Being a part of the English department has inspired Grimes’ passion and excitement for academics, which she credits to her professors who pushed and inspired her. Currently, she is applying to graduate English programs and hopes to continue her education in a master’s or PhD program after graduation.

The Michael Clark prize honors not only a student’s academic achievements, but also their intellectual drive as a scholar. The scholarship is named after Michael Clark, who was a student who showed integrity, dedication, and a passion for English. Other students who have held this award include: Rose Munsey Kano, Meabh Cadigan, Michael Ruff, and other exemplary scholars.
