Lio Grogan 26', reflects on their time in Florence, Italy.

Ciao, my name is Lio and I studied abroad in Florence in spring 2025. There, I took courses in oil painting, fashion design, and experimental photography through a dual program with CEA CAPA and SRISA. I was very grateful to expand my artistic knowledge/abilities through a new cultural perspective. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and I cannot wait to return! Lio Grogan 26'

Lauren Leighow studied in Granada, Spain, but rode a camel in Morocco!

My best advice for study abroad? DO IT! I was able to make it work financially and academically—fulfilling requirements for my degree and saving money to make it happen—and I’m so grateful I did. Living in Granada, Spain ended up being the most rewarding and beautiful experience of my life. I learned so much about myself, the wider world, and the Spanish language. I have missed the people I befriended and the duende of lovely Granada every day since. Lauren Leighhow '26

Student enjoys time outside in Spain.

Claire VanAcker studied a summer in Santiago, Chile and a semester in Sevilla, Spain.

I chose the World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures major at IC because it allowed me to pursue many of my interests at once. I am interested in international studies, literature, and the Spanish language, so this major enabled me to explore all three through a variety of classes. I have taken courses on theater in Spanish, Hispanic literature, and translation. For the fall of my senior year, I studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain to complete the Spanish concentration for my major. The experience greatly strengthened my Spanish skills and broadened my cultural understanding. I traveled throughout Andalucía, experiencing the unique culture of this part of Spain. I also worked as a teacher’s assistant for an English teacher, helping students prepare for the Cambridge English exam. My major gave me the foundation I needed to fully engage with and appreciate these cultural experiences.
