MaryBeth Cooper ('17, writing minor) was accepted into Georgia College's M.F.A. Program, which houses award-winning faculty writers in creative nonfiction, memoir, poetry and fiction.
Christie Citranglo ('17) accepted a position as the Editorial Associate for the National Association of Credit Management in Columbia, Maryland, a business advocate for business credit and financial management professionals nationwide.
Emma Scheinbaum ('18) and Erika Walsh ('18) have launched a digital-only journal, VELVET GIANT, which operates outside the boundaries of genre and resists tradition and expectations in literature. You can check out the website here.
Matthew Porter ('18, writing minor) was accepted into the M.F.A. in Creative Writing & Poetics program at University of Washington Bothell.
Marissa Landrigan's book The Vegetarian's Guide to Eating Meat: A Young Woman's Search for Ethical Food was published in 2017 by Greystone Books. Having graduated from IC in 2005, Marissa is now an Assistant Professor of Writing at the University of Pittsburgh. Her creative nonfiction has been published in The Atlantic, Salon, Orion, Guernica, Creative Nonfiction, The Rumpus, and elsewhere.
nicole v basta's chapbook V was published in 2017 and was the winner of the 2016 New School Chapbook Contest. Since graduating from IC in 2010, nicole co-founded the Brooklyn-based art collective/performance night Say Yes. She has also been an artist in residence at Art Farm in Nebraska, and her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Crosswinds Poetry Journal, Forth, Public Pool, Canary, The Underground, Blunderbuss, and others. Miranda K. Pennington’s debut nonfiction book, A Girl Walks into a Book, a hybrid memoir of growing up reading the Brontës, will be published in spring 2017 by Seal Press. Miranda graduated from IC in 2007 with a Bachelor of Music and a Writing minor; last year she completed her MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Columbia University. Currently, she’s adjunct University Writing faculty at Columbia University and writing instructor of Uptown Stories in Washington Heights. She’s also managing editor at Neuwirth & Associates, a publishing services company. Miranda has published in The American Scholar Online, The Toast, the Ploughshares blog, and The Catapult podcast.
Zachary Tyler Vickers’ debut collection of stories, Congratulations on Your Martyrdom!, was published on June 1, 2016 by Break Away Books/Indiana University Press. Zach graduated IC in 2006 with a BA in Writing and a minor in Screenwriting. He's also a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and his fiction has appeared in The Iowa Review, The American Reader, KGB Bar Lit Magazine, DIAGRAM, Hobart, and elsewhere.
Dylan Emmons’ memoir, Living in Two Worlds: On Being a Social Chameleon with Asperger’s, was released in March of 2016 by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. The memoir grew out of the senior project that Dylan completed with Professor Nick Kowalczyk just before graduating from the Writing program in 2012.
