Animals and pets are generally prohibited from all Ithaca College buildings and outdoor facilities (athletic/intramural fields, stadiums, etc.). College policy provides limited exceptions to permit certain animals on College property.
Animals on Ithaca College Properties
IC welcomes some animals in a limited capacity on campus grounds. Read the following information carefully to understand when and where animals are permitted on campus.

Exception 1: Service Animals
Service animals are allowed into IC buildings and on campus grounds while performing their duties.
Exception 2: Emotional Support Animals
Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) may be approved as a reasonable accommodation.
Exception 3: Service Animal in Training
Training status impacts where service animals in training are allowed on campus.
Exception 4: Therapy or Program Animals
A handler may be given limited approval to bring therapy or program animals to campus.
Exception 5: Pets
In limited circumstances, pets may be permitted inside college buildings or on the grounds.
Regardless of any exception
- The handler of a pet or other animal on college property is responsible for maintaining control of the animal at all times.
- Animals must be properly leashed, harnessed, or caged in an appropriate carrier
- Service animals may be under visual or command control if a leash or harness would impede the service it provides.
- Animals must be appropriately socialized and housebroken.
- Animals cannot behave in a manner that is unreasonably disruptive, such as uncontrolled barking, growling, or exhibiting aggressive behavior.
