Consistent email signatures are essential for conveying a professional and unified identity across Ithaca College’s diverse audiences while reinforcing a sense of consistency, cooperation, and community across our divisions and schools. They also play a crucial role in information security by assuring recipients that they are receiving official Ithaca College communications and helping to minimize technical issues across different email platforms and services. To use this template, select the text and copy/paste into your email client. Delete unused portions and modify the links as needed.

Please note that you may have to strip formatting when you copy and paste the template into Outlook. Please ensure the signature is set to an 11pt default font and has no background color.

Additional Recommendations

  • Less is more. Feel free to use just the first four lines or expand it to include website, phone number, and Teams links as needed.
  • For compatibility with various email clients, hosts, and dark mode settings, we discourage the inclusion of images or logos in email signatures. If you must include an image, we recommend setting up the image to include alt text and never using the image as a link, which may trigger anti-spam protections and cause delivery issues.
  • For replies and ongoing threads, email signatures may be shortened to include only your name, pronouns, and title. This keeps conversations readable and avoids repetitive information.
  • We recommend keeping email signatures in a black default font (for our Microsoft/Outlook system, that is Aptos or Arial) sized at 11 or 12pt. Black ensures that the text is compatible with dark mode.
  • Use these steps to create a direct chat link in Microsoft Teams:
