Biography

Angela Di Francesco, PT, DPT, NCS, CBIS is a residency-trained neurologic physical therapist and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Ithaca College. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Ithaca College in 2018 and went on to complete a neurologic physical therapy residency at Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, NY in 2019. She later worked at the prestigious Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, IL as part of the float team and traumatic brain injury team.

Dr. Di Francesco has extensive clinical experience in neurologic rehabilitation across the continuum of care, including acute care, inpatient rehab, outpatient neuro, home health, and long-term acute care. She is a Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist (since 2020) and a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (since 2022), with a passion for evidence-based, person-centered care for individuals with complex neurologic presentations.

At Ithaca College, Dr. Di Francesco teaches in Neurologic didactic and clinical courses, Wellness & Prevention coursework, and mentoring students in neurologic clinical reasoning and professional development. She also coordinates the Therapeutic Alliance Program , a pro bono interprofessional clinic developed in partnership with Tompkins County Whole Health, serving individuals with traumatic brain injury and co-occurring mental health or substance use conditions.

Dr. Di Francesco’s scholarly interests include the integration of behavior change theory in neurologic rehabilitation, interprofessional education, and the use of blood flow restriction training in individuals with neurologic conditions. She is actively engaged in ongoing research, professional service, and curriculum innovation.

When not teaching or treating, Dr. Di Francesco enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her fellow IC faculty fiancé, Tim Reynolds, and their two cats, Fritter and Miss Muffet.
