Dr. Luis Gallo Quintero is a Colombian oboist and educator pursuing an active career as a performer and teacher. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Oboe at Ithaca College, where he teaches applied oboe, Aural Skills, Music of Latin America, and Music Skills for Musical Theatre Majors. Prior to his appointment at Ithaca College, he performed with ensembles including the Naples Philharmonic, Jacksonville Symphony, and Tallahassee Symphony, and has appeared at international venues such as the Elbphilharmonie, Concertgebouw, and Konzerthaus.
An active chamber musician, Dr. Gallo is the oboist of the Civitasolis Reed Quintet, a prizewinner of the 2021 Coltman Chamber Music Competition, and is committed to expanding and promoting the reed quintet repertoire. He is also a member of the Ithaca Winds, performing regularly with his Ithaca College colleagues and touring throughout the Northeast.
Dedicated to teaching and mentorship, Dr. Gallo fosters inclusive and creative learning environments that encourage students of all disciplines to engage deeply with music. He holds Doctor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Florida State University, as well as Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Science degrees from Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
