Lara Hidalgo Lyon is an interdisciplinary artist and educator whose work spans photography, film, video, poetry, and live production. She is currently working on an experimental film about the water hyacinth as it migrates through the estuaries of Vietnam, where her family is from. As a professor she seeks to cultivate a creative, collaborative environment where the joy of learning is shared through discovery while students gain real-life skills. Prior to joining the Park School, she lived in New York City for nearly two decades and produced, shot, and edited videos while teaching at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She earned her BFA from New York University and her MFA from Bard College. Her documentary The Technological Disobedience of Ernesto Oroza remains one of the most popular videos ever on VICE’s Motherboard TV. Artworks such as Under the Ephemeral Cuba and Vegetative Delirium are held in major collections including Yale, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the National Gallery of Art.
