Dr. Radio Cremata is Professor and Chair of Music Education at Ithaca College. He earned his doctorate degree in music education from Boston University, his master’s degree from Florida International University and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. Before coming to Ithaca College in 2013, Dr. Cremata taught for 15 years in elementary, middle and high schools in Miami, FL.
Dr. Cremata is actively involved with and serves in a variety of Music Education organizations including: the National Association for Music Education, the Society for Music Teacher Education, the College Music Society, the New York State Music Educator's Association, the Association for Popular Music Education, the Association for Technology in Music Instruction, the Technology Institute for Music Educators, and the International Society for Music Education.
Dr. Cremata’s research has been published in: the Journal of Research in Music Education, the International Journal of Music Education, the Journal of Music, Technology and Education, Music Educator's Journal, Education Sciences, the Journal of International Education and Practice, Action Criticism and Theory for Music Education, and the Journal of Popular Music Education. He has published a book with Routledge, and contributed chapters to edited books for IGI, Bloomsbury and Oxford University Press.
His teaching and research reflect his commitment to innovation, progress and re-imagining the future of Music Education. With over 30 years teaching experience in elementary, middle, high school, and university, he teaches courses, gives master classes, and presents at national and international conferences on such topics as technology-based music education, informal learning, urban and at-risk music education, intercultural music education, popular music education, inclusive and adaptive MUED for students with disabilities, emerging practices in music education, culturally responsive pedagogies, multicultural music education, community music, home education, childhood development and online music education.
