26th Edition of FLEFF

The 2023 edition of the festival runs from March 20 - April 9. The festival will be hybrid, with both in-person events and screenings hosted by Ithaca College and our partner Cinemapolis.

26th Edition Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival Theme: POLYPHONIES

POLYPHONIES joyously combine a number of parts, each with an individual melody and harmonizing with each other. This layering of different voices, practices, and perspectives is not only found in music but across the arts, politics, technologies, and ecologies.

Conceptually, polyphonies offer an embrace of the many, the multiple, and the diverse into a more energized whole, rejecting the singular, the mono, and the linear.

Patricia Zimmermann, FLEFF Director, and Ann Michel, FLEFF Producer, on Virtual Festivals

As part of the special Visible Evidence Forum dossier on Cocreation During Pandemic and Protest, Zimmermann and Michel published an essay about innovations in collaborative cocreative practices as FLEFF 2021 went 100% Virtual . This cutting-edge dossier features essays by eight scholars and new media artists, many of whom had been previous FLEFF guests.
