Illustrated by moving images of the interconnected worlds of milkweed plants and monarch butterflies, playwright Wendy Dann will introduce a reading of an extract from her new play, Milkweed, and discuss the natural species and migratory metaphors at the heart of her drama. Connecting social and natural worlds, Dann draws on the particular symbiosis between the migratory patterns of the monarch butterfly and the milkweed plants they rely on for their survival – a potent metaphor for the relationships and ecosystems critical to the sustenance and development of we humans, too.
Cinemapolis: time TBA – Ithaca-based playwright Wendy Dann will join us in person for Q&A (FREE EVENT)
