The President’s Fellows Program stems from President Shirley M. Collado’s deep belief in investing in the campus community to develop and shape both the future leadership of Ithaca College and the future leadership within the landscape of higher education.

The President’s Fellows Program is supported entirely by the president’s discretionary fund, a strategic resource that she is utilizing to support faculty, staff, and students as they explore their potential as learners, educators, leaders, professionals, and human beings.

Details and Expectations

  • Fellows will observe and participate in key meetings and events, and take on a special project or projects and assignments while under the mentorship of a campus leader or leaders
  • Selected fellows will develop a capstone experience
  • Fellows will participate in focused, in-depth exploration of a topic. Possible examples include, but are not limited to:
    • Policies and procedures for a family-friendly campus
    • Policies and procedures regarding diversity and inclusion
    • Onboarding programming for faculty
    • Recruitment and retention programming
    • Establishment of flexible workload policies
    • Development of living-learning communities
    • Enhancement of communication across campus and externally
    • Selecting an area of the strategic plan within a school, across schools or the IC strategic plan
    • Developing the globally aware student and faculty
  • Fellows will participate in monthly cohort meetings
  • Fellows will take part in one or two scheduled retreats
  • Fellows will develop a network of colleagues across the institution
  • Fellows will develop a network of leaders in a strategically chosen area across other institutions/organizations
  • Fellows must be willing and have the flexibility to travel/visit other institutions or organizations
  • Selected fellows will honor strict confidentiality procedures where appropriate
  • Faculty will teach one course per semester and be released from other responsibilities to focus on fellowship responsibilities
  • Faculty and staff fellows will retain their current salary and seniority during and after the program
  • Students will be provided with a $5,000 stipend per semester
