New Student Orientation for Fall Athletes

In order to accommodate the busy practice schedules of new fall athletes, an early arrival Fall Athlete Orientation will be offered on August 18-19. Click on the dates below to view each day's schedule of events. Please note that athletes are also required to attend certain events during the regular Fall Orientation schedule (see below).

Fall Athlete Orientation Schedule

*Attendance will be taken at these required events
  • 9 a.m.–3 p.m. *Early Arrival Move-in and Orientation Check-in (for tennis, golf, & cross country), Athletics and Events Center Arena
    • Check in to receive your room key, ID card, and orientation materials then move in to your residence hall.
  • 1 p.m.–3 p.m. Resource Fair, Athletics and Events Center Arena
    • Become familiar with a variety of important campus and community resources.
  • 7–8 p.m. *Residential Floor and Cluster Meetings for Athletes, Textor 102
    • Meet and connect with other students living in your residential cluster, your Resident Assistant (RA), and floormates, and learn about community living.
  • 11 a.m.–11:45 a.m. *Fall Athlete Check-In,IC Square (Food Court) in Campus Center

  • 11:45 a.m.–noon *Fall Athlete Welcome ,IC Square (Food Court) in Campus Center

  • Noon–1 p.m. *Lunch with Orientation Leaders (OLs), Campus Center Dining Hall
    • Meet with your OL and small group to ask questions, receive personalized advice, and learn about campus culture.
  • 1–2 p.m. *Safety on Campus, Textor 102
    • Your Title IX and Public Safety teams are here to help you understand your rights, resources, and how to support one another by contributing to a campus community that promotes safety and respect.
  • 2:15–3:15 p.m. *Wellness at IC, Textor 102
    • Explore the IC resources available to support your wellness throughout your college journey. This session will feature the Center for Health Promotion, Counseling and Psychological Services, and the Office of ICare and Student Support.
  • 3:30–4:30 p.m. *Building a Community of Respect - Tips, Tools and Resources, Textor 102

  • 4:30-4:45 p.m. *Wrap Up, New Student & Transition Programs, Textor 102
    • A chance to talk with NSTP about the rest of orientation and ask any remaining questions you may have about the New Student Checklist. 
Required Fall Orientation Sessions

Please note that all new fall athletes are also required to attend the following sessions during the regular Fall Orientation program: 

  • Thursday, August 21: *Small Group I
  • Thursday, August 21: *Academic Session I
  • Friday, August 22: *Small Group II
  • Friday, August 22: *Convocation
  • Friday, August 22: *Academic Session II
  • Saturday, August 23: *Small Group III
