With guaranteed housing every year for undergraduates, the IC campus is a place you can call home. In each of our residence halls and apartment communities, find spaces to study, have meaningful discussions, hang out, unwind, and make memories. Many students choose to live on campus with their friends and classmates all four years (though only the first three are required).

In the First-Year Residential Experience and other specialized Residential Learning Communities, discover ways to meet and collaborate with mentors and peers where you live, like faculty presentations and group social and service events. And it's all on a walkable campus—right outside your door you can learn, work on projects, immerse yourself in nature, and explore.

West Tower Fire Alarm Update

Update (Sunday, 12/2, 1:30 PM): Residents of the rooms that remained closed on Saturday will be able to return to their rooms at 4:00 PM today.

Update (Saturday, 12/1 5:30 PM): As of 5:30 PM on Saturday, December 1, the 10th floor of the West Tower is open. There are a few specific rooms that remain closed and residents of those rooms have been notified.

-----

The 10th floor of the West Tower residence hall was closed late Friday afternoon as the result of water damage caused by an activated fire sprinkler. There was no fire and no injuries. It appears that the sprinkler was activated accidentally when residents of a room got clothing tangled in the sprinkler head and it broke off.

The building is now open for all residents except for those who live on the 10th floor, where water has damaged some rooms. The Office of Residential Life has reached out to all of the residents and held a meeting for the displaced students, and is assisting them in making alternative housing arrangements. Any residents who were unable to attend the meeting or who have questions can contact one of the RDs on duty at (607) 220-7993 or (607) 220-7928.

We will continue to post updates as they are available.
