As a senior Park Scholar at Ithaca College, Lyndzee is extremely excited to finish her journey at IC. She wants to continue to engage in the opportunities that the Park Scholar Program has to offer, especially HerCampus and the opportunities for networking. She is a Journalism major who plans to create a mental health check-in system for the elderly. While working in a nursing home, Lyndzee developed her passion for working with the elderly. She played cognitive games and engaged in conversations to help exercise their minds while keeping them comfortable. This past summer, Lyndzee volunteered at the Villa Senior Living Community where she helped the elderly with physical challenges. Her involvement included helping with daily walks, going to and from the bathroom, and participating in fitness classes. In the fall, she will work at the McGraw House every Monday afternoon with Park Scholars Janelle Harris, CeCe Gabriel, Ally Lemon, Kaeleigh Banda, and Thomas Warshaw, where she will help the elderly with technology. Currently, as an intern at Scalawag Magazine, Lyndzee writes about the political injustices impacting marginalized communities in the rural South. Last semester, she contributed to her individual service at the McGraw House, partnering with resident Laurie Hultburg to organize a bake sale that sparked meaningful conversations and cognitive engagement.
