Janelle Harris is a fourth-year student and a proud Park Scholar. This past year has been her best one yet! When she wasn’t giving tours to prospective students or making vlogs for the Ithaca College YouTube channel, Janelle could be found downtown serving as the Head Usher at The State Theatre of Ithaca or assisting Ithaca's elders with their technological troubles at McGraw House. Her on-campus involvement reached new heights this year. She was an orientation leader for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters and traveled to Tampa, Florida to represent the Park Scholar program at the Student Television Network Convention. In December, Janelle was named a finalist in the esteemed Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program (EICOP). Through her partnership with EICOP, she scored a summer internship with The Walt Disney Studios in studio international post operations. She will continue in this role in the fall. During her fall semester in Los Angeles, Janelle will continue her passion for serving her community with Young Storytellers. As a mentor in this program, she will help elementary school-aged students develop their story from an idea to a five-page screenplay, over the course of 8 weeks! Being a Park Scholar has allowed me to be myself without fears or limitations. It has provided me with life altering freedom, exposure, and some of my closest friends to date. I can’t imagine what my life would look like had I taken another path, and, because of the Program, I don’t have to.
