Kaeleigh Banda is a junior journalism major with minors in legal studies and graphic design. She is most involved with The Ithacan, where she has served as Photo Editor (2024) and currently as News Editor (2025). In this role, she edits staff work, collaborates with visual editors, writes stories, and helps produce print editions in Adobe InDesign. Kaeleigh also works at the Office of Admissions as an Admission Host, where she shares her story with prospective students as a greeter and tour guide. This past summer, Kaeleigh received a Park Center for Independent Media internship scholarship and worked with Waging Nonviolence where she managed social media, helped create newsletters and fact-checked stories. She was then hired as a proofreader for Fall 2025. In her hometown of Poughquag, NY, Kaeleigh is a volunteer photographer/crew member with her local community theater, Standing Room Only Theater Company. In Ithaca, she is a volunteer photographer/media manager with Running to Places, a local non-profit youth theater company. She is also part of Device Advice, which is a group of students that visits McGraw House, a senior living facility. Kaeleigh’s recent honors include induction into Lambda Pi Eta’s Tau Theta Chapter, the Oracle Honor Society, and receiving the 2024 Greater Buffalo Society of Professional Journalists Chapter scholarship. She has also been named to the Dean’s List every semester. Kaeleigh’s gratitude for being able to join the Park Scholar family as a junior is endless.
