Kaeleigh Banda is a senior journalism major with minors in legal studies and graphic design. She is most involved with The Ithacan , where she is the Editor-in-Chief for the 2026-27 academic year. She previously served as Photo Editor, News Editor and Year in Review Proofreader. In her current role, she oversees website content and print publications, ensures consistent high-quality work, and supports 26 editorial board members and over 100 staff members. Over the past three summers, Kaeleigh received a Park Center for Independent Media internship scholarship and worked with independent news organizations including The Ithaca Times, Waging Nonviolence and the Southern Dutchess Newspaper. In Ithaca, she is a volunteer photographer with Running to Places, a local nonprofit youth theater company. In Spring 2026, she volunteered with the Sciencenter to help write impact reports to support grant funding for educational and community programing. She also joined Device Advice, which is a group of students that visits McGraw House, a senior living facility. For Fall 2026, she is volunteering with Cayuga ReUse Center. Kaeleigh’s recent honors include induction into the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, Lambda Pi Eta’s Tau Theta Chapter, the Oracle Honor Society and receiving the 2024 Greater Buffalo Society of Professional Journalists Chapter scholarship. In addition, Kaeleigh was awarded the Peggy Ryan Williams Award for Academic and Community Leadership.
