Hannah Coulthurst is a Documentary Studies student from Azusa, California, with a minor in Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies. Last year she volunteered at Finger Lakes ReUse, where she worked with a team of Park Scholars to create long and short form promotional videos for the organization. She is continuing her work with ReUse this semester, where the group is focusing on sorting, pricing, and shelving second-hand items to give them a second life and keep them out of landfills. Additionally, Hannah spends her Saturday mornings volunteering at Buffalo Street Books to help update online calendars and make online graphics, and she recently began dabbling in stocking bookshelves! She loves being able to use her love for reading to help such an amazing organization bring the Ithaca community together through literature. This fall, Hannah took on the role as The Ithacan’s Assistant Podcast Editor, where she is working to jump start their first ever video podcast. As the President of IC Tabletop, Hannah spends her Thursday nights sharing her love for board games with her peers. She is also the Activity Coordinator for iSign, Ithaca College’s American Sign Language club, where she works to spread her passion for ASL while learning about Deaf culture and communities. Additionally, Hannah is stepping outside of her comfort zone and trying out club tennis this semester. Hannah’s goal is to use her skills in media production to lift up the voices of those around her and ensure they are heard. Through broadcast journalism and documentary production, she hopes to tell the stories of those who do not have the platform to do it themselves and to tell their stories in the way they want them to be told.
