Abby Chesman

Abby is excited to be joining the Park Scholar community as a first year Television, Photography, and Digital Media major. She is volunteering at Finger Lakes ReUse to help keep trash out of landfills, give a second life to donated items, and provide support to the community. She has been enjoying diving headfirst into the many opportunities Ithaca has to offer, including getting involved on the photo and video teams for The Ithacan, working in the camera department for the ICTV programs Good Day Ithaca and After Hours, and gaining valuable experience on the social media and marketing teams for HerCampus . She also hopes to become involved with VIC Radio and the Park Portable Equipment Center and Services (PPECS). Previously, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the CESJDS Bohr Franklin Science Journal, the Multimedia Editor of her school’s newspaper, and the Photo Editor of the school yearbook. Abby plans to gain the skills necessary to use media to bridge cultural gaps and promote productive dialogue in an age of polarization. She is deeply and truly grateful for the opportunities that being a Park Scholar affords, to explore the possibilities that emerging media offer and to learn from such talented peers.
