Chris Holmes, Professor of Literature in English, will be the scholar-in-residence at City University of Hong Kong for two weeks in June. During this period of residency, Professor Holmes will give a talk titled, "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once: World Literature, AI, and the Novel Under Deliberation," that considers how literature offers us a deliberative form of thinking that counters AI's claim to knowledge. He will also record a live interview for his podcast Burned by Books. He will interview Hong Kong writer Ysabelle Cheung, author of Patchwork Dolls, for an audience at CityUHK. During his time in Hong Kong, Prof. Holmes will offer seminars to grad students about publication and the job market, and a how-to lecture on starting a podcast from scratch.

CityUHK is a public university located in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong. It was founded in 1984 as the City Polytechnic of Hong Kong, and in 1994 was recognized as the City University of Hong Kong. Currently, the university has 11 colleges and offers courses in a variety of courses.

Huge congrats to Professor Holmes!
