Kyra Bean '19 receives Dean's Award and the Sally Parr Memorial Award

Writing major Kyra Bean '19 received the Dean's Award for outstanding graduate in the Humanities.

Each year, the dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences identifies four outstanding students representing the four disciplinary areas within the School of H&S: Humanities; Social and Behavioral Sciences; Natural Sciences and Mathematics; and Fine and Performing Arts. Kyra's record of academic achievement placed her at the top of all students in the Humanities area this year.

Kyra also received this year's Sally Parr Memorial Award from the Department of Writing, given to the senior Writing major with the highest overall GPA. Inaugurated in 2017-18, the award honors the memory of Sally Parr, a longtime faculty member and former department chair who distinguished herself as both a teacher and an administrator.
