2023 Student Guides

Meet the team that has been making the 2023 festival a reality! Student guides introduce their author at one of their readings and also help support festival events behind the scenes through the New Voices Seminar.

Student Leadership Team

Connor Hibbard, Student Director

Connor Hibbard

Connor Hibbard is a senior television-radio major and the Student Director for this year's festival. This is Connor's third year as a member of the New Voices Festival.

Lou Baron, Student Assistant Director

Lou Baron

Lou Baron is a senior with a major in culture and communication and minors in English and Spanish. She’s thrilled to be back as one of the Assistant Directors after being a student guide for playwright Gina Femia in 2021! At the moment, her life outside of the festival is primarily comprised of radio (SiriusXM and Ithaca’s own WICB), traveling back and forth to New York City and trying to stay present with friends in the last moments of college (eek!).

April Morales, Student Assistant Director

April Morales

April Morales is a junior writing major with a minor in Latinx studies. She is one of the Assistant Student Directors for the festival and is also on the Women’s Rugby Team here at IC. Her other interests include interjecting random science facts in almost every conversation, horror movies and ghost stories, and everything literature related. She mainly enjoys writing poetry and has recently started exploring creative nonfiction. She is excited to continue being a part of the festival for the second year in a row!
