February 24 – March 1, 2026

Handel’s lyrical pastoral chamber opera brings joy even with its bittersweet ending. Galatea is portrayed as a gentle, graceful nymph, while Acis, her beloved shepherd, is brave and passionate. Their love is tragically disrupted by the monstrous cyclops Polyphemus, who, driven by jealousy, kills Acis. With its elegant melodies, fantastical characters, and emotional depth, Acis and Galatea is one of Handel’s most beloved works.

Audience Advisory: Contains themes of jealousy, violence, and death, including the depiction of a character being killed.
