Anton Chekov's Three Sisters

October 9-13, 2026 in Clark Theatre

translation by Sarah Ruhl
directed by Marc Gomes

The production finds the Prozorov family in the Soviet Union of the mid-1980s, during the uneasy early years of Glasnost and Perestroika. In a provincial military town, society begins to quietly shift around them, and routines only provide a cold comfort for the sisters’ longing for Moscow of their childhood. Set in the worn interiors, military formality, and cultural upheaval of late Soviet era, Chekhov’s play emerges as a portrait of a family sensing change before they are fully ready for it.
