Major: Public and Community Health

How did you choose your major? If you are still Exploratory, how are you working on choosing a major and what choices are you considering?

I came in having no idea what I wanted to major in. I took a personal health class for the ICC and I really enjoyed it. The next semester I took more health classes which is when I realized that I was really interested in health and declared my major.

What was your favorite resource to use when you were an Exploratory student?

I really enjoyed taking the Student Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Test to see how my interests and personality go hand in hand with specific jobs and majors. The majors and minors fair was fun because it opened my eyes to majors and minors I did not know Ithaca had.

What do you like most about the Exploratory program?

The Exploratory program has many helpful resources and people who are there to support you 24/7. It is nice to be able to take classes in all different subject areas to really find what you are interested in. They also have a lot of programs to help you become familiar with certain majors and schools so you can see what it is like to be a part of it.

What is your biggest piece of advice to other Exploratory students?

My biggest piece of advice is take classes you think you might be interested because if you are you are one step closer to picking your major and if not you know what not to do so you can focus more on your interests. Don’t be afraid to explore!

What extracurricular activities are you involved with on campus?

I am an event planner for IC After Dark, an office assistant at the Office of Registrar and a peer tutor.
