Accessible Parking Information

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is available to students, staff, faculty members, and frequent visitors who have both a valid Ithaca College parking permit and a valid state-issued accessible hangtag or license plate. Both your state-issued accessible hangtag and IC permit must be displayed when parked in accessible spaces.

Accessible hangtags or license plates are subject to verification upon request. The state-issued accessible hangtag or license plate is recognized only when the individual to whom the plates or hangtags are issued is present.

Vehicles parked in accessible spaces without a valid state-issued accessible hangtag or license plate will be ticketed and could be towed at the owner's expense.

If a space designated for accessible parking cannot be located, permit holders can park in any space which is not reserved for other purposes.

Temporary Accommodations on IC Campus

I got injured and have limited mobility; now, what do I do?

Parking Services can issue you a one-week temporary permit that would allow you to park in an Americans with Disability Act (ADA) space, aka Accessible Space, or spaces in blue lots on campus while you work with your medical provider.

The one-week temporary permit must be picked up Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm at the Parking Service Office before parking in these spaces on campus. If you require accommodation beyond one week, you will need to obtain a state-issued ADA permit.

For information on how to obtain a valid New York state-issued accessible hangtag or license plate, please visit the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles website.

How do I apply for a state-issued ADA Permit?

  1. You will need to consult with your healthcare provider to determine if you are eligible for accessible parking. The healthcare provider will also need to complete an application on your behalf.-(PDF) NYS DMV – form MV-664.1
  2. You would take this application to your clerk's office*, you will want to make sure that you have your driver's license with you when you go to the clerk's office. You will be issued a temporary state-issued ADA Permit from your Clerk's Office..
